The Drugaid office is located on the first floor of Old House, Castle Street, Merthyr Tydfil; the client wanted to use the office for initial enquiries and some treatment. The original office space was open plan and our work was to accommodate a friendly and welcome reception area and waiting area; admin room; several counseling rooms; a treatment room and refreshment area. Our work also included the furniture and lighting specification.
Because of the sensitive nature of their work, special consideration was given in the design towards privacy and safety issues. The design accommodates some clear guidelines we were required to follow including; the client (patient) may not be left at any point of time without supervision; the counseling rooms required complete privacy (sound and visual) and secure areas are required for both for staff and patients.
